Resource Development Committee

The Resource Development Committee is responsible for helping the Board raise money necessary to fund our organization’s basic operations, projects, and programs that support our One Health mission.

The ethics of raising funds and utilizing them in accordance with donor wishes is a value we hold. Therefore, we aim to follow the guidelines, codes, and standards as set forth by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

We are actively seeking people to join the Resource Development Committee. The committee meets every third Wednesday of the month starting at 9 am, but may move to an ad hoc schedule to accommodate volunteer’s busy schedules.

We raise money through different activities supported by part-time staff:

  • Grants, Ann Hunter (in the office on Fridays)
  • Donations, Nina Sheffler (in the office on Mondays)
  • Sponsorships, Nina Sheffler (in the office on Mondays)
  • Internet & merchandise sales, Dawn Smith (in the office on Wednesdays & Thursdays)
  • Special Events (Nina Sheffler & Dawn Smith)

The purpose of the monthly meetings are to:

  • Review the success of certain activities undertaken where there is an expectation of raising funds
  • Evaluate how we can increase our chances for successful fundraising based on past experience

In addition it is important for us to:

  • Retain relationships with those who have believed in us to contribute in the past
  • Build relationships with those who may be interested in our cause and be compelled to contribute

Members of the Resource Development Committee include:

  • Chair, Nina Sheffler (non-voting)
  • Board member liaison, Carrie Leising of Charter One Bank
  • Member, Lauren Boone of Sequoia Financial Group
  • Member, Julie Forgach of Our Lady of the Elms School
  • Member, Paula Hennessey of Misty Glen Kennel
  • Member, Cindy Schneider of There for You, LLC
  • Member, Aimee Wade of Karamu House, Inc.
