Committee Volunteer Opportunities

If you are interested in a leadership position and have time and expertise that can positively impact the work of the Board, this may be the opportunity for you. Below, are the general descriptions for each committee.  Please submit your resume, curriculum vita, biography, web page, or LinkedIn page to the President and CEO, Dr. Anna M. van Heeckeren by e-mail with the opportunity you seek to fill.

Committee Structure & Function

Each committee has the following general structure and function.

  • Committee Chair: This is a non-voting staff member who is responsible for preparing the agendas, doing the day-to-day work to support the committee members in between meetings, preparing and distributing the minutes following each meeting, and working closely with the Committee Co-Chair, Board Member Liaison to the Committee, and Committee Members.
  • Committee Co-Chair: This is the lead volunteer who works closely with the Committee Chair to review agendas and minutes prior to general distribution to the other members of the Committee.
  • Board Member Liaison: There shall be Board Member participation on each Committee. Their role is to champion any recommendations made by the Committee to the Board, and bring Board perspective to the activities of the Committee on which they serve.
  • Committee Member: Each volunteer Committee member has a voice and a vote. There may be work assigned to members in between meetings, depending on the needs of the committee. In most cases, a committee shall have 3 members.

Time Commitment

Each committee meets monthly for a one hour conference call. It is expected that a committee member shall read the agenda ahead of time, ask pertinent questions, perform any task that is assigned to them in between meetings, and review the minutes after each meeting in a timely fashion. There is also the expectation to attend an annual meeting to get to know one another on an informal basis and build a team spirit.

Financial Commitment

There is an expectation for each volunteer to make a personal donation to the General Fund. While there is no minimum commitment, a financial contribution in any amount sends an important message to our current and potential contributors.
